Baviaanskloof Mountain Passes Tours

The Ultimate South African Scenic Experience

Baviaanskloof Mountain Passes Tours offers a unique opportunity to experience the scenic wonders of the Garden Route and Eastern Cape.

We offer three interesting tours, originating in George, Plettenberg Bay and Jeffrey's Bay respectively.  Each tour includes a visit to the spectacular Baviaanskloof Wilderness Area. Along the way we will travel a number of historic and scenically beautiful mountain passes in the Klein Karoo, the Garden Route and the Eastern Cape.

Each tour will be for a group of between eight and twelve persons and takes four days and three nights.

Our guests are collected at the point of origin mid-morning on the first day and are returned there mid-afternoon of the fourth day.

Our guests travel in air-conditioned, luxury 4x4 vehicles through some of the most beautiful areas of South Africa.

Each tour is guided by an accredited tour guide, knowledgeable and passionate about the area and the wellbeing of our guests. They will do their utmost to make your trip special and comfortable.

In each tour, three nights are spent at the luxurious Sederkloof Lodge in the Baviaanskloof where our guests can relax while enjoying the comforts of this upmarket resort.

The fascinating environment, wildlife and picturesque setting ensure an unforgettable experience. You can read more about Sederkloof Lodge on their Website.

Tour prices will be provided upon application and are all-inclusive with the sole exception of our guests' alcoholic beverages.

Accommodation at Sederkloof Lodge in the Baviaanskloof

We were mentioned in an article about the Baviaanskloof contained in the March 2005 edition of South Africa's Getaway magazine.

Here are some extracts:

"The illusion of paws was even more marked as my long-suffering Isuzu later hacked up a track along the muscular side of a berg in the company of Thys and Alice Clliers who own the beautiful Sederkloof Lodge. Thys  had offered to get me deeper into the mountains and soon the Baviaans River was a tangled thread far below us. Valley thicket gave way to protea-sprinkled fynbos guarded by the proud but tatty aloe ferox sentinels. Up above Sederkloof Lodge the air was cool and clear, glittering in sunlight playing on rustling sprays of restios. The track ended at a cliff edge above a deep kloof which wove its way tantalisingly into the distance. Deep in its embrace was a relic Cedar forest, secret and safe, Beyond, the far ranges smirked in their seemingly inaccessible isolation."

In the Getaway advisor Sederkloof Lodge received 5 umbrellas indicating the highest level of accommodation :

"For luxury there is Sederkloof Lodge run by Thys and Alice Cilliers. It consists of stone-and-glass hideaways high on a ridge overlooking a kloof and includes a communal bar, lounge and pool. It is accessible by 4x4 only."

Day One sees you being collected at George and travelling via the historic and beautiful Montagu Pass to the quaint little Karoo town of Uniondale. From there we proceed through Nuwekloof Pass into the Baviaanskloof and to Sederkloof Lodge where you will spend three nights. Along the way you will be awed by towering cliffs, overhanging rocks and be amazed at the lengths to which honey seekers will go to find the golden nectar.
